Self-negotiated Brief - To explore and celebrate craft’s within society.
Concept -To interview craftsmen and women, who’s lives are impacted by crafts.
Solution - The interviews will be presented within a book, bound and sewn into by hand. This will engage
creatives of all ages.
Interviews - The over 55’s crafts group meet up every monday to sew, knitt, make cards etc.
P: Do you enjoy coming to these sessions?
Doreen: Oh Yes, very much!
P: Why do you think they’re important?
Doreen: It’s just being in other company.
Ali, CEO of Shepherd’s bookbinders in London explains how books are important because they protect information. “What happens if technology fails us? Where will our literature go?”
Ben is a self-taught sculptor who believes “It’s a labour of love” and that finding someone who does
the craft is unique.
Three sewn patterns run through the book representing well being (yellow)
community (blue) and livelihood (pink). All of these aspects are impacted by crafts.
